The competition took place on 15 March in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall main auditorium and came after a very successful tour to Aberdeen. Glasgow Music Festival is an annual festival of music, speech, drama and dance first held in 1911. Each year around 7,000 performers take part in the two week festival which opens on the first Saturday in March. There are events for groups of almost any size and description, in addition to an extensive programme for solo performance. Performers have the opportunity to develop their skills through receiving advice and encouragement from a team of experienced professional adjudicators. It was the first time that they had a class specifically for string orchestras and beating Jordanhill Secondary School was miraculous given the circumstances of the competition and personally very satisfying. Well done to everyone involved!
