Those who attended the Sports Day were aware that they were witnessing a real sporting phenomenon. Allan Hamilton (S6) over the course of the day, broke a School overall record, a School Sports Day record, and matched his own School Long Jump record of 7.11m, which he had set just last weekend.
He broke the School High Jump record he set earlier this month at the Edinburgh Schools’ Championships at Meadowbank with a jump of 1.95m.
The School Sports Day record for the 100m of 11.00s which had stood since 1971 was broken with a run of 10.96s, when Allan matched the time he ran at the Scottish Schools’ Athletics Championships last weekend. This was only 0.16s outside the overall School 100m record.
Not content with that, he also won the 200m in a time of 23.07s.
A truly memorable performance from an exceptional athlete.
