Once again I congratulate pupils on their achievements in this year's SQA and A/AS Level public examinations. All pupils will have had personal goals and can feel rightly proud of how they have performed. In line with previous years, there has been outstanding success at all levels - Advanced Higher, A Level, Higher, AS Level, Intermediate 2, Intermediate 1 and Standard Grade.
I am particularly pleased that our open presentation policy has produced an overall pass rate in S5 Highers of 90.6% which is very likely to be above the average for independent schools in Scotland, and that 54% of entries were at A grade, pre-appeal. In addition, this year saw 56 candidates in S5 gaining straight As in 5 or more Highers/AS Levels, which represents 25% of the whole year group.
Advanced Highers remain a popular choice amongst S6 students and the percentage of A grades (40.4%) is very impressive.
These results don't just happen but come from a lot of hard work and commitment on the pupils' part. Our staff have played a vital role too, as of course have parents with their encouragement and support through what can be anxious weeks in the Summer Term.
Well done to everyone involved!
