girl playing hockeyGeorge Watson's College 1st XI hockey girls won the final of the East U18 knock out cup, beating North Berwick 7-1 at Peffermill playing fields on 31 January.

The Watson's girls took a while to settle into the game but a penalty stroke in the 15th minute encouraged the girls. A 2-0 lead at half time saw Watson's looking comfortable.

A well executed penalty corner early in the 2nd half gave Watson's a 3-0 lead but North Berwick stole a goal back soon after and continued to apply a lot of pressure on Watson's defence. However, a break away move which resulted in a 4-1 goal line and a victory looked certain. The goals flowed from this point to make a final result of 7-1.

Gareth Edwards, Principal, said of the girls' win, 'This was a tremendous effort from our girls and caps off a week of sporting success for the school.'
