generic rowing photographOur Rowing Club went to Durham at the weekend where they participated in the Durham Small Boats Head. On a day of horrible weather the club came home with 13 wins.

In the single sculls competitions, wins came from Rachael Malin (S1) in U13, James Stevenson (S2) in U14, Ellie Brown (S3) in U14, and Robyn Gillies (S4) in U16.
Our double scullers were also successful. Rachael Malin and Katy McDonald (S2) won the U13, Peter Smith (S2) and James Stevenson won the U14, and Matthew Rankin and Callum Stephen (both S6) the novice race.
Ian Walker (S5) and Euan Marshall (S6) won both the U18 double scull and U18 pair races.
The quad of Joanna Tink (S4), Rebecca Lowden, Sarah Duff and Heather Dun (all S5) won the women’s quad, while Rachael Malin, Katy McDonald, Ciara Hutchison Reid and Emma Crawford (both S2) won the U13 quad. Joanna Tink, Robyn Gillies, and Isla Ferguson, Sophie Ward and Emma Crawford (all S2) won the women’s senior novice quad. Ian Walker, Matthew Rankin, Callum Stephen and Euan Marshall won the U18 four competition.
With many of our wins coming from our younger pupils, it seems that the strength of the club will continue after Mr Jim Ferguson retires this summer.
