Providing Choice, Opportunity and Challenge
Life at George Watson’s College is about so much more than lessons.
Our Enrichment programmes provide an exceptional range of extra-curricular opportunities for pupils of all ages, interests and aptitudes. Whether keen on sport, performing on stage or in the music auditorium, pupils are able to get involved at Watson’s.
We believe in giving our pupils the freedom to find out who they really are, what they really enjoy doing and how they are going to make their own contribution to the community around them and further afield. As a result they often get involved in activities they would never before have dreamed of trying out, and by challenging themselves in this way learn new skills, meet new friends and gain resilience and confidence.
Central to the experience of life in Upper Primary are residential trips to York, Aberfoyle, Perthshire and London.
Amongst the Enrichment activities available in the Junior School are: around 13 different sports, including Athletics, Hockey, Cricket, Rugby skills, Skiing and Swimming; 10 choirs, music groups, orchestras and ensembles; and a range of other Clubs such as Beavers, Brownies, Reading Club and Country Dancing.
At Watson's we offer a number of out-of-hours care options, before and after school hours. Breakfast Club is open from 7.30am and After School Club operates until 6pm for pupils in Preschool to Primary 7. We also provide a Holiday Club for current pupils, as well as offering a wide range of sport, music and drama camps for children whether they attend Watson’s or other schools. You can find out more about what’s on offer and details of how to book on the Holiday Camps page.
