Strings Summer School - P3 to S2

Theme: Carnival of the Animals

Strings Summer School is for children who play violin, viola, cello and double bass. During the course of the week we play in small chamber ensembles of varying sizes, full string orchestra including all attendees, sing in a choir and enjoy other music related activities. This year's theme is Carnival of the Animals. Our week will culminate with a sharing concert on Friday 8 August.

Camp Leaders: Katherine Edmonds and Douglas McCallum

Katherine Edmonds is a Music Teacher at GWC. She has been involved with Strings Summer School for the last eight years and directed it for the past three. Educated at Cambridge University, her career has seen her teach children from 3 months to 13 years. Her passion is to make music fun and accessible to all.

Douglas McCallum is the Assistant Director of Music at GWC. He is a violinist and violist who studied the BEd course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. His career has seen him teach class music from Primary 2 to Senior 6 level. In addition he has experience as a violin and voice instructor, as well as a performer at events.

Who can attend?

The Strings Summer Camp is open to all children from P3 - S2 who are studying violin, viola, cello and double bass. We ask that all children attending have basic note reading skills on their instrument please. 

Cost

£234.00 inclusive of VAT per week
Please note that due to the new VAT rules imposed on independent schools, VAT is now applicable on this camp.
