Hey! Come Play! - Improvised Music - S1 to S6
Meet people, make noise and let beautiful moments emerge!
If you play an instrument and want to explore improvisation in a welcoming, guided setting, we would love for you to join us. These two days are entirely open to all instruments and skill levels. With a heavy emphasis on exploration and collaboration, these sessions are the perfect complement to term-time music education - whether you are classically trained or have never improvised before.
This is a unique opportunity to hone your musicianship through a variety of activities, focusing on:

Why Improvise?
In improvised music, there are no mistakes - only "unexpected directions". By focusing on the process rather than a 'perfect' result, we create a safe space for young musicians to bypass the rules and play exactly how they feel. It's a powerful lesson in give and take, teaching the true value of collaboration and self-expression.
Camp Leader Biography
Dan Jackson and Christie Logan are mainstays on the Edinburgh Improvisation scene but have also played in bands together for the last 12 years. Christie on guitar and bass and Dan on drums and synths. This means they can jump in and accompany any session. Dan and Christie have run improvised music nights in the University of Edinburgh halls of residence, tutored for Tinderbox Orchestra and attended Edinburgh Napier University Summer Jazz school. When not running music nights they work in pupil support for high school students.
