Leaving a Legacy

Your Legacy, Our Future

In the 18th Century, George Watson made his aims clear, He sought academic excellence and the creation of an environment where young minds hungry for knowledge could flourish, no matter what their background or financial means.

“Fill thou the hearts we lift to Thee, with quenchless fire of charity”
Words taken from the School Hymn by Dr C E Ainslie, Headmistress GWLC (1902-1926)

This tradition lives on today, as the School strives to provide an environment that inspires individuals to do the very best they can, while supporting and encouraging others to also achieve their best.

The need for philanthropic support at Watson’s has not diminished in the almost three centuries since George Watson left his legacy.

For further information on leaving a legacy gift to the School then please read Your Legacy, Our Future (below) or contact us.

“To give away money is an easy matter, and in any man’s power. But to decide to whom to give it, and how large and when, and for what purpose and how, is neither in every man’s power - nor an easy matter. Hence, it is that such excellence is rare, praiseworthy and noble.” - Aristotle
