The Chamber Choir is an auditioning SATB choir of pupils from S3 to S6.
The choir performs a varied repertoire of sacred and secular music, with recent repertoire including Bach's Wachet Auf, Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb, Lux Aurumque by Whitacre and arrangements of songs such as The Teddy Bear's Picnic and Old Macdonald Had a Farm. They have sung Evensong at Morningside Parish Church and Dunfermline Abbey, and take part in the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at St Giles’ Cathedral each year. In addition the choir and regularly perform at large and small-scale concerts in School.
The Chamber Choir also represents the School at many outside events, such as the St Andrew’s Day Service in St Cuthbert’s Church and Kirking of the Master of the City of Edinburgh, and also performed at the ceremony at which Sir Chris Hoy was given the Freedom of the City of Edinburgh. The choir regularly goes on concert tours with the Caritas Strings, in recent years touring the Czech Republic, Poland and northern Italy.
