Financial Support

George Watson’s College is proud to support over 200 current pupils who are in receipt of some form of Financial Assistance.  For the 2026/27 academic session, a limited number of new Foundation Places (offering 75–100% fee assistance) will be available for S1 entry. Only those who in the first instance meet financial criteria based on household income will be considered for a Foundation Place. Our assessment criteria also consider social or educational adversity with a focus on pupils who would not otherwise be able to access a Watson’s education.

More information on the process and criteria can be found in our Financial Assessment Guidance. If you believe you meet the criteria for a Foundation Place and wish to be considered for the award of a Foundation Place, simply indicate this on your application form. Please note that due to the high volume of applications for Foundation Places, we will be unable to offer a place to every pupil who applies.

Applications for 2027/28 onwards, which require financial support, will open in Autumn 2026.

We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity throughout our admissions process as outlined in our Admissions Policy.
