We are delighted to welcome Changing Faces to our Twilight Talk which will be held on Tuesday 18 May at 6pm.
Changing Faces is the UK's leading charity for people with a scar, mark or condition. The charity provides unique and life-changing wellbeing and counselling support, skin camouflage, and education services.
They campaign to challenge attitudes, prejudice, and discrimination so that people with visible differences can lead the lives they choose.
The Twilight Talk coincides with Face Equality Week, which this year has the theme of Education. Changing Faces will be launching school resources later this year which GWC will be involved in piloting.
The following speakers will present:
Angela Harris is the Changing Faces Head of Scotland and is responsible for driving forward strategy and relationships.
Angela focuses on building and strengthening partnerships including those with the NHS, Scottish Government, Education Scotland and Police Scotland to increase services reach and increase awareness of visible facial difference across sectors.
Susan Ross is the Head of Education and Learning. Her role focuses on developing resources for the workplace and educational settings to challenge the biases and barriers faced by people with a visible difference in their day-to-day lives.
Rory McGuire is a campaigner who has spoken at conferences, to senior police officers and academics about the harassment he has received in his life as someone with a large facial birthmark, and what needs to change.
