The Scottish Rowing Championships were incredibly successful for Watson’s.
Ruairi Potter (S6) raced his single and finished second in the final, and was in the third-fastest junior pair with his partner from Strathclyde Park. Eilidh Dickerson (S4) came second in her final. Peter Demyanov (S4) won silver in the J16 singles event, and Sarah Cameron (S6) won bronze in the final of the women’s novice single.
Our winning crew in the J14 coxed quads event was made up of Angus Millar, Seb Ansell, Gregor Watson (all S3), Robbie Watters and Sam Hancock (both S2). Angus and Seb also raced the J15 doubles event and won the school boys’ medal.
Izzy Clements and Honey Hughes (both S3) came second in the final of the women’s J16 double, winning the school girls’ medal, and won gold overall in the women’s J15 double. Izzy won gold in the final J14 singles, as well as the U14 gold; she also raced in the women’s J15 single, coming third overall. The women’s J15 coxed quad also came second in their race. The J18 coxless quad – Ruairi Potter (S6), Harry Grant, Oleg Dmitriev (both S5) and Peter Demyanov (S4) – won the school boys’ medal; Peter and Oleg won the school boys’ medal in the J16 doubles.
The J15 coxed quad and women’s J14 coxed quad both won school level medals; these crews were made up of Angus Millar, Alex Levi, Sam Beaumont, Seb Ansell and Gregor Watson (all S3), and Rosie Cameron, Lucy McGill, Georgia Dunn, Lily Palmer (all S2) and Grace Thomas (S3) respectively.
In the last race of the day, the women’s J16 coxless quad – Louise Sandland (S5), Katie Douglas-Hall, Eilidh Dickerson (both S4) and Isla Sinnott (S3) – won the school girls’ medal.
