On Saturday 19 August, the drummers from our Novice A band were crowned World Champions for the fourteenth time at Glasgow Green. Our Juvenile Band finished in the runners up position and our Novice A Band came 4th.
To round off a spectacular day for the GWC Pipe Band, Mr Harvey led his own band Peoples Ford Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band to the Grade 1 World Championship title for the first time in their history.
Prior to this success, our Pipes and Drums had a very busy summer, achieving some superb results at various events throughout the month.
On Sunday 6 August our Juvenile band continued their competitive season with a visit to Bridge of Allan Highland Games, winning the Juvenile Grade and also scooping top spot in the Grade 2 event, with the drum corps also being awarded 1st in both grades.
Our Novice A and Juvenile bands started their final preparations for the World Championships by competing at the Lothian & Borders Branch Championships at North Berwick Highland Games on Saturday 12 August. After excellent performances, both bands were awarded 1st place in their respective grades. Our Novice A band were awarded 1st place by all four adjudicators on the day, meaning the drummers also scooped the prize for the best drum corps.
On Sunday 13 August, the Juvenile band continued their strong form at Perth Highland Games, once again coming out on top in the Juvenile Grade and also won the Grade 2 event.
Safe to say, it's been a pretty triumphant season for our brilliant Pipes and Drums. Thank you to all our staff who work tirelessly to support our pupils to achieve such fantastic results!
