Watson’s Drummers Best in the UK

Close up of drum

The Novice Juvenile A drummers won the UK Championship Drum Corps title in Lurgan, Northern Ireland at the weekend.

The Novice A and Juvenile Bands both narrowly missed out on top spot, after being awarded 2nd place in very close competitions.

Head of Pipe Band, Michael O’Neill said:

“The pupils have been working extremely hard, improving upon their performances week on week, so it is fantastic for our drummers to be rewarded with the UK Championship title.  Both bands are now busy with their preparations for the remainder of the season and they are very much looking forward to the Edinburgh competition and the European Championships."

The bands will play again at the Edinburgh Pipe Band Championships on Sunday 19 June, where all 3 Watson’s bands will be performing at the Edinburgh Academy Newfield Recreation Ground, Inverleith Place. The Novice A and Juvenile Bands will then move on to compete at the European Pipe Band Championships in Inverness on Saturday 25 June.

It is a busy time for the bands and we encourage you to pop along and support if you can.
