Olympian Josh Kerr opens sporting Wall of Fame

On Wednesday 29 September, Olympian and former pupil, Josh Kerr officially opened our Wall of Fame in the Centre for Sport. 

Josh won a Bronze medal in the men's 1500m athletic event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and unveiled his own photo on the wall, before taking part in a Q+A session with Senior pupils. 

Our school has a rich sporting history and the wall represents some of the former pupils currently competing as Olympic, international and professional athletes. There is one exception for Sir Chris Hoy who is, of course, Britain’s most successful Olympian.

Mike Leonard, Director of PE and Sport, said: “The photos displayed are truly inspirational to pupils, staff and parents. 

“We want to show that sport can offer incredible opportunities that don’t stop when you leave school. Schools must be a starting point for participation - the aim is always to provide lifelong activities for all. 

“For some of our former pupils to have experienced the pinnacle of sport at senior level is an outstanding achievement and all at George Watson’s College are very proud.”
