Lord Wallace visits GWC

Lord Wallace Visits GWC

On Thursday 2 December, we were delighted to welcome Lord Jim Wallace, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

He met with our Junior School House Captains and Project 810 Ambassadors, leading a question and answer session with Primary 7 pupils.

Lord Wallace then met and held question and answer sessions with pupils studying Higher Politics and Advanced Higher Religious, Moral & Philosophical Studies. These thought-provoking discussions, no doubt enhanced our pupils' understanding of faith communities and the social, political, and spiritual issues surrounding them.

Senior School Office bearers also met with Lord Wallace to discuss chaplaincy and interfaith in schools. Staff and pupils from a variety of faith backgrounds then joined together for lunch.

Melvyn Roffe, Principal at George Watson's College, said: “We were delighted to welcome Lord and Lady Wallace to Watson's.

“We are a school which welcomes pupils and staff of all faiths and none but we value our longstanding connection with the Church of Scotland. Staff and pupils relished the opportunity of discussing a wide variety of important subjects with the Moderator.

“We hope that Lord and Lady Wallace enjoyed their visit as much as we all did."
