Foundation Day
Today we celebrate Foundation Day, 20 years on from the establishment of the George Watson's Family Foundation. This morning we reminded our pupils of the importance of the Foundation and how it benefits everyone who comes to Watson's. The Senior School pupils have shown their support with a non-uniform day and making a donation to the Foundation.

Pipe Band Trip to Long Beach, Los Angeles
For Edinburgh, a relatively dreary Tuesday morning; for GWC Pipe Band, something quite the opposite. Our American adventure began at Edinburgh airport on Tuesday 13 February. A short flight to Heathrow, followed by a long flight to the United States saw us land in LAX. Before we knew it, our adventure had begun. After a 24-hour journey, beginning at Turnhouse and ending in Long Beach, we enjoyed what can only be described as a glorious night’s sleep on board the Queen Mary, before taking on Disneyland the next day... which was simply magical.

School Closed Friday 2 March
As the School remains closed on Friday 2 March due to the extreme weather, pupils are enjoying number of ‘snow days’ as Edinburgh experiences snowfall not seen since November/December 2010. Below are some photos of our snow-covered campus.

Scotland Malawi Partnership Youth Congress
On Tuesday 20 February, 11 S5 and S6 pupils attended the Scottish Malawi Partnership Youth Congress at Hampden Park, Glasgow. It was a very interesting day, which kicked off with a video message from Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish First Minister.

The School was honoured to receive a return visit from General Pascal Legai, Director of the EU Satellite Centre in Madrid.

Founder's Day
On Friday 9 February, we were delighted to welcome the Guest of Honour, Ms Frances Guy (Class of 1977), current Gender Team Leader, Regional Bureau for Arab States, United Nations Development Programme, Amman, Jordan for Founder’s Day.

Feeling Good
Since the start of the month an entire programme of both exhilarating and restorative activities has been taking place throughout the School.

Celebrating the Bard
Last night at 7pm, many tartan adorned S6s took their seats in the Dining Hall, ready for a night of Scottish entertainment and food at the S6 Burns Supper.
