Scottish Relay Championships
A number of our pupils celebrated success in the 4x200m relays running for Edinburgh Athletics Club at the Scottish Relay Championships Final held during the first evening of the European Indoor Athletics Championships at the Emirates in Glasgow on 1 March.

Spectacular Results at Scottish Swimming Age Group Championships
20 GWC pupils took part in the 2019 Scottish National Age Group Championships at Tollcross International swimming pool in Glasgow last week. 38 medals won by 20 GWC pupils.

A Dramatic Schools' Cup Win for our Senior Boys' Hockey Team
After a dramatic win against Stewart's Melville on running penalties, the 1st XI boys hockey side progressed to the Final of the Scottish School Boys' Cup on Friday 23 March. With a bus load of travelling support from Watson's, there was a brilliant atmosphere for the match against Loretto School at Glasgow Green. In front of a packed crowd, the side played some fantastic hockey in the first half, and took the lead through a well taken penalty stroke from Rory Evans (S5).

Watson's partnership helps to spread the joy of sport
Thanks to funding from the Edinburgh-based charity Sporting Start, children at Gracemount Primary School are having their first experience of hockey coaching.
‘Hockey Start’ is a new programme run by George Watson’s College designed to spread the joy of sport, and in particular hockey, to more young people who may not otherwise get the opportunity to participate. 60 P5 pupils at Gracemount Primary School are now enjoying hockey sessions once a week delivered by Watson’s coaches, all who have played the sport at national or international level.

Both our S3 boys and girls' hockey teams will compete at the National Hockey Finals at Glasgow Green on Friday 8 March.

Success at Scottish Schools' Swimming Championships
Our swimming team celebrated success at the recent Scottish Schools' Swimming Championship which took place at Tollcross International Swim Centre, Glasgow. We were well represented with 23 swims across the day. The standard, as ever, was very high and our swimmers were competitive throughout, with many of the GWC team achieving ther personal best and finishing just outside medal positions.
Two of our pupils came away with medals on the day, Rachel Saunders (S3) took Gold in the Girls' 13/14 100m Back, and Jack Brown (S2) was awarded Silver in the Boys' 13/14 200m Back.
