Accelerated Reading Programme

Accelerated Reader is a Motivational reading program which helps focus attention on the careful reading of books. This in turn improves pupils' critical thinking skills and builds an intrinsic love of reading.

Having taken a Star Reading Test, using the computer-adaptive reading assessment program, P7 pupils then choose to read books at home and at school from a published list within their own ZPD range (Zone of Proximal Development). On completion of the book, they then take a computer generated quiz which will indicate their level of comprehension of that book.

Many of the books are held in the School Library, but it is useful for parents to be able to access these lists so that books may be bought or borrowed from other libraries as well.

Two lists are available - one in author order and the other in ZPD range order.
