Book Week in the Junior School

Book Week in the Junior School was another successful event this year. It started off with a wonderful visit from the local storyteller, Angie Townsend, to the Nursery children. She retold many stories including the Teeny Tiny Tadpole, where the children joined in with many different actions. The children particularly enjoyed the story of the Frog Prince, as there were costumes to be worn and songs to be sung.

The following day, Roger Stevens, a poet from the south of England, visited the School. He is a performance poet, author, musician and artist. His poems have appeared in many anthologies. His latest solo collection is Why Otters Don't Wear Socks. Roger gave a lively presentation to all of the Primary 6 children. He spoke about how he comes up with ideas for his poetry and then in the classroom sessions managed to inspire every pupil to write some wonderful poems of their own.

The week came to an end with our biannual Book Fair. As always the wonderful range of books on sale ensured that the day was another success.
