An engaging and stimulating medium, the International Baccalaureate Theatre Arts Course provides the perfect forum for students to immerse themselves in creative and imaginative activity, thus creating meaning and enactive realisation within a global context.
In examining the social, historical and religious contexts of international cultures, the theatre is brought to life with people, values and personal expression being the core of enquiry and passion. The study of Theatre allows the student to examine a range of international playwrights, practitioners, philosophers and genres through which they are actively educated, stimulated and intellectually challenged.
Process and product, as well as analysis and synthesis, are of equal measure in the assessing of candidates, which will allow students to embrace personal, academic and practical challenges alike.
Assessment is continuous throughout the two years, underpinned by the ongoing journal in which students will record evaluations of personal achievements, understandings and thoughts, as well as providing a comprehensive record of lessons, workshops and experiences in and outwith the classroom, the rehearsal room and the theatre – all of which informing their practice as a Theatre Arts student.
