Last week 12 of our pupils participated in a Technology Tournament at The Royal High School, promoted by the local Rotary International and sponsored by the Institute of Structural Engineers.
A total of 56 pupils, from secondary schools throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians, took part in a challenge with required them to use team-building skills in solving a design and technology problem and hopefully encourage them to consider Engineering as a career.
This year the task was to project manage, design, build and test a coin counter and to encourage the participation of all age groups the task was set at three levels – Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. We entered a team into each. Our Advanced and Basic teams both came runners-up in their competitions, while our Intermediate team – Adam Moore, Callum Watkins, Mark Baker, and Jonathan Stark (all S3) – won theirs.
All of the pupils enjoyed their highly successful day.
