Holiday Club

Holiday Club

Open to pupils who currently attend George Watson's College, in Primary 1 to Primary 7, the Holiday Club provides a flexible package of care, allowing parents to opt for the care sessions that suit their individual needs.

The Holiday Club operates during all school holidays except for the Christmas and New Year period when the whole School is closed, and the five days prior to the start of the new school session in August. From this session, we will no longer be offering care on Good Friday or Easter Monday, which this year falls on Friday 14 April and Monday 17 April. Holiday care operates between the hours of 7.45am and 6.00pm, with the option of booking a full day, morning or an afternoon. Morning sessions run from 7.45am until 1pm and afternoon sessions run from 1pm until 6.00pm.

Please note that pupils booked in for a half-day session must be collected by 1pm from the morning session and not dropped off until 1pm for the afternoon session. Pupils who attend either a morning or a full day session will require a packed lunch. Please note that we are a nut free school. A light breakfast is available to the children at the start of the day, and a healthy snack is provided in the morning and afternoon. Drinks are available to the pupils throughout the day. On some days it may be necessary for all children to attend for a full day as an outing is taking place. However, this will be clearly marked on the Holiday Club booking form.

Pipes and Drums

Music

Pipes & Drums

The Pipes and Drums run camps in both the Easter and Summer holidays open to pupils studying Pipes, Drums, Chanter, Stick & Pad at George Watson's College.

Pipers and drummers of all levels (including chanter/stick & pad) receive quality tuition at a suitable pace, on an individual and group basis covering instrument maintenance, music theory and practical work with the emphasis on fun.

On the afternoon of the final day, we stage a concert at which all pupils will be encouraged to perform for their family and friends before receiving a certificate for their efforts.

For further information contact Pipe Major Iain Simpson or Drum Major Mick O'Neill on 0131 446 6075.

Caritas Strings Summer School and Strings 'Taste and See'

We are delighted to be running two string summer schools in the summer holidays. One is for children already learning a stringed instrument and the other is for potential beginners.

Caritas Strings Summer School is for children already learning violin, viola, cello and double bass and gives tuition in a variety of ensembles and orchestras, the emphasis being on creativity and fun.

The 'Taste and See' Summer School is for children considering learning violin, viola or cello. It will give musicianship classes as well as an opportunity to recieve initial tuition on all these instruments.

Highlights from this year's camp, compiled by Toby Jones (S2) can be seen below.
