Lunches at Watson's

As all our pupils stay on campus during the day until they are in S6 it is important that our catering meets their requirements.
All our school meals and snacks are prepared in-house fresh each day. Pupils can choose from a range of sandwiches and hot main meals or from a daily baguette and potato bar offering a choice of salads prepared from fresh fruit and vegetables.

We were the first Scottish independent school to achieve the "Eat Safe Award". Awarded by The City of Edinburgh Council, in conjunction with The Food Standards Agency, the "Eat Safe Award" provides reassurance for customers, as it shows that the stringent legal requirements in food hygiene have been exceeded.

Lunch Menu

Please choose the Lunch Menu tab to view the current lunch menu. The page is normally updated each Friday with the menu for the following week.

Packed Lunches

Prepared healthy packed lunches are available for all Junior School pupils. Bookings must be received by Thursday of the week prior to the required booking. The cost of a packed lunch is £2.85.

Please note that packed lunches for Junior School trips must be ordered in a different way. A form is available to download from the Useful Information section of the Junior School Website. This must be returned to either the Lower Primary or Upper Primary Reception depending upon the year group involved in the trip.

Electronic Swipe Card Payment System

George Watson's College uses an electronic swipe card payment system for school lunches for pupils in Primary 3 to Senior 6. Pupils in Primary 1 and Primary 2 use a separate prepayment system.

The swipe card system allows parents to view account balances and details of purchases made by their children through the school website. To access this service, please click the Lunches Online tab above - you will be prompted to enter your username and password.

Payment into swipe card accounts is primarily online by debit / credit card. We accept the following card types: UK Maestro (formerly Switch), Solo, Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Delta and American Express.
