STRUCTURE: present tense + da + time phrase e.g. abito a Edimburgo da dieci anni = I have lived in Edinburgh for ten years. studio il francese da sette anni = I have been studying French for seven years. N.B. In this structure the present tense is the equivalent of the English past tense. Translate the following into Italian: 1. I have attended this school for eight years. 2. I have been learning Italian for six months. 3. Gianni has been working in an office for two weeks. 4. We have been waiting for nearly an hour. 5. They have spent the holidays in Italy for many years. |
