What is a conjunction?
Conjunctions join
together individual words or phrases or parts
of a sentence.
The following sentences will show you the only conjunctions
we are interested in at this stage; they are in bold print and underlined.:
- The Trojans were helped by Hera and Athene
- Orpheus went down to the Underworld and pleaded with
Hades to release his wife.
- Athene tried to warn Arachne but the foolish girl did
not listen to her.
- Prometheus disobeyed Zeus not once but twice.
- Hera showed no mercy to Hercules or his family.
- Apollo did not know if the cattle had wandered off or if
they had been stolen.
