REVISION FOR ASSESSMENT 1 (November)

The exam will have three sections: Grammar, Vocabulary and Mythology.

Make sure that you revise the following topics which will be tested in Assessment 1, usually in November:

Grammar topics: revise the following parts of speech:

nouns: common nouns, proper nouns, abstract nouns and collective nouns.

Vocabulary: learn the Latin and Greek words below which you have already met. In the exam you will be asked to give the English meaning of some of them; you will also have a question in which you will not be asked to give the meaning, but instead you will be asked to give one English word derived from them. In the table below you will see some suggested English derivations from each Latin word but you can use a derivation of your own provided that it is correct.

1. The Greek and Roman names of the gods and goddesses and their jobs.
2. The details of the stories in Units 3, 4 and 5 : this will be tested in the "Mythology Mastermind" section; to help you revise you should try the quizzes for these stories; you will find them on the web page.
