EXCELLENCE IN DIVERSITY
Spend just a short time with us here at Watson's and you will quickly
sense the spirit of excitement, the breadth of opportunity, the aspiration
to achieve and the feeling of warmth that characterises our school.
Look a little closer and you will find that ours is a diverse community
encompassing boys and girls with a range of talents, abilities and
personal qualities.
In pursuing academic excellence, we at Watson's are committed to
a culture that encourages - and expects - each pupil to achieve the
very best they can. In encouraging young people to explore their strengths,
we believe that the learning process is as important as the results
it produces.
The quality of learning and teaching we provide is centred on the
pupils and their expanding experience, where every mistake, like every
success, is seen as an opportunity to move forward. The fear of failure
should never block the freedom to learn.
At Watson's we aim to equip our pupils with a level of confidence
that is matched by a respect for the abilities of others. Daily life
requires us to interact with different people in different situations
and the breadth of our school helps our pupils develop into versatile
young adults with open and enquiring minds.
The values we hold today reflect the principles of our Founder, George
Watson. By making a Watson's education accessible to a greater number
of families through financial assistance, the George Watson's Family
Foundation furthers another of our Founder's aims.
The principle of excellence in diversity extends to our nationally
renowned Support for Learning Department. This department is at the heart
of a highly developed framework for overcoming, from the early years,
barriers to pupils' learning, including dyslexia. A programme is also
in place to provide extra stimulus and challenge for the most able.
Throughout a childhood at Watson's, there will always be something
new to try, new friendships to make and new adventures to share.
